Burnley-Moran Elementary School is one of six public elementary schools (preschool – grade 4) located in the City of Charlottesville.
Burnley-Moran opened in 1954 with [Henry L. Sublett, Jr.] as its first principal. The namesake comes from the first two women to head schools in Charlottesville: Carrie Burnley was the first principal of McGuffey School and served as such for twenty-eight years. Sarepta Moran was the first principal of Venable School and served as such for twenty-one years.
The school campus is 15 acres and has views of Monticello. It is within walking distance of the Downtown Mall and the Rivanna Greenbelt Trail.
