Burnley-Moran Elementary School is one of six public elementary schools (preschool – grade 4) located in the City of Charlottesville.
Burnley-Moran opened in 1954 with [Henry L. Sublett, Jr.] as its first principal. The namesake comes from the first two women to head schools in Charlottesville: Carrie Burnley was the first principal of McGuffey School and served as such for twenty-eight years. Sarepta Moran was the first principal of Venable School and served as such for twenty-one years.
The school campus is 15 acres and has views of Monticello. It is within walking distance of the Downtown Mall and the Rivanna Greenbelt Trail.
The mascot is the bobcat.
