Rod Gentry
Venable School, Lane High SchoolGrowing up I think all the way back to elementary school. I remember sliding down the banisters in school, and the principal caught me. Came around the corner as I popped off the banister. I landed in his arms. And he took me to his office, sat me down, called my mother. I’m sure my mother said, “Whatever you want to do with him. Help yourself.” And he spanked me. And I mean, I was in elementary school at Venable. And never slid the banister again, I mean it worked really well. And it wasn’t a brutal beating. But it was, I got spanked, it was embarrassing. And you know, went back and told my friends. I said, “You know that sliding down the banister thing we’re doing, it’s probably not a good idea to do it.” Because he shows up, Mr. Robinson was his name.
