Well, there were great pressures at Lane, believe me. A lot of people say, well, didn’t you feel uncomfortable, insecure? And I did. I was actually frightened to go into a class with all white kids, I’m the only Black kid, white teacher, never been exposed to any of this, no one set you down and said this is—we’re going to give you a prep course on how to deal with this. We were just thrown in there, and you were supposed to be able to handle that.
